Homai Vyarawalla, India's first and most accomplished woman photojournalist was well known for her photographs of Gandhi, Nehru and the freedom struggle. Witness to the country's social and political history for fifty years, the Second World War was the backdrop for some of Homai's earliest pictures. She was also a stringer for Time Life, the Black Star, Paul Popper, Deutsche Presse Agence and numerous other international agencies. Now 91-years-old she lives alone in Baroda, Gujarat.
